Il Était Une Bergère, roughly translating to ‘there was a shepherdess,’ is a children’s song that elucidates the story of a mischievous cat after the shepherdess’ milk. This song seemed quite popular with our small group of Troubadours. Perhaps, this children’s song, like many other, contains a bawdier undertone which conveniently goes above children’s heads.
