Richard Cary (Curator 1958-1975)

Professor Richard Cary (1909-1990) served as our second Curator of Rare Books. Building upon the foundation laid by our first Curator, Carl Weber, he expanded the breadth and depth of the collections amidst a period of campus and cultural changes.

RICHARD CARY AS DONOR

Special Collections includes many letters to and by Richard Cary that together document the continued growth of our rare book and literary manuscript holdings. He also donated his working papers for major research projects.
