John H. Foster ‘1913

At Colby (1911 – 1913)

John H. Foster entered Colby College in September 1911 and graduated in 1913. As a member of the YMCA, and influenced by his family (his father, John M. Foster, also graduated from Colby and went to China for missionary work), he chose to continue his medical studies after college and went to China a few years later as a medical missionary.

During his time at school, he served as the captain of the tennis team in 1912-13 and won the state singles championship in 1913; he was the president of the chess club in 1913; and also served as the Class Treasurer in the same year.

During his time at Colby College, he also joined the Delta Kappa Upsilon fraternity and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa before graduation.
