After returning to China, Foster continued to devote himself to the medical industry, he worked from 1930 to 1960 at Waterbury Hospital, Waterbury, Conn., serving as an Attending Physician and with the Heart Association.
Although Foster had been living in the United States with his wife for a long time at this point, he still cared deeply about China. He had long been concerned with China’s development, political situation, and wars, not only because he had personally visited the place and his experiences as a missionary had left him with very valuable memories, which he carefully cherished, but also because at that time, his son John Thomas Foster was still in China fighting the Japanese as a member of the Flying Tigers.
