Wet Cold American Winter

A spin-off of the popular film Wet Hot American Summer, Wet Cold American Winter is a weekend-long winter festival full of outdoor and food-related events to build community and celebrate winter in Waterville.

Events

Outdoor Activities:

  • Ice rink for hockey, skating, and broomball
  • Ski Down Main Street
  • Snow and ice sculpting
  • Luminary path from Head of Falls Park to Green Street Park
  • Polar plunge dunk tank
  • Screening of Wet Hot American Summer
  • Talent show

Food- and Drink-Related Activities:

  • Beers, Bonfires, and S\’more
  • Make-Your-Own-Snow-Cone with Nick Isgro
  • Soup Skol soup-making competition
  • Hot chocolate tasting

Project Goals

  • Create programming to encourage people to enjoy the outdoors during the long winter
  • Provide an opportunity for members of the Waterville and Colby communities to interact and build community in the downtown
  • Engage with local businesses and organizations in the downtown
  • Disrupt the dominance of cars on Main Street and promote walkability of Waterville to challenge the existing urban structure
  • Establish an unique, annual festival that is popular amongst locals and out-of-towners

Wet Cold American Winter

Project Team

  • Project managers Catherine Fraser, Griffin Stevens, Adam Zarfos will organize Wet Cold American Winter in its first year
  • During the first year of Wet Cold American Winter, a Waterville Winter Programming Committee (WWPC) will be formed to take over running Wet Cold American Winter and to enable additional winter programming in Waterville moving forward
