Moody’s Diner: The Claim to Fame
“It’s just, overall, a good atmosphere.”
Moody’s Diner opened in 1927 by Percy and Bertha Moody, with 3 cabins to house weary travelers looking for a clean, inexpensive place to stay the night. The following year, a lunch wagon was opened, and in 1934, the diner relocated when Route 1 was re-routed. Moody’s continues to be a family tradition, as it is currently operated by the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of its original founders. It boasts about its consistency and the unique relationships between the staff and the customers, but it is hard to think about Moody’s without thinking about their renowned pies. Although they’re searching for the next generation to take the reigns, there is no doubt that Moody’s Diner will continue to be a home for their many patrons, and that their success will continue to prevail.
