Gleaners
“I have more food in my fields than I know what to do with.”
Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program is a non profit organization situated in Brunswick, ME that serve communities through their extensive food programs. By integrating creative methods, such as traveling food pantries, home delivery systems, and school backpack programs, MCHPP aims to give everyone access to nutrition. This film follows gleaning, one of MCHPP’s newest initiatives, which collaborates with local farmers to collect ripe produce that have been left after the harvesting period. Through gleaning we are able to learn more about food insecurity in Maine and how local initiative can tackle the problem.
