“Wool and Wax and Such” features Kim Scheimreif, a homesteader living with her family on Shepherds and Such Homesteading Farm in Waldoboro, Maine. Kim’s philosophy involves sustainability and self-sufficiency through resourcefulness and creativity. She values hard work and independence, two qualities that she has passed along to her four children. Kim and her family grow about a third of their own food on the homesteading farm, while also making beeswax candles, wool products, jewelry, and other homemade goods. She is a regular vendor at many Farmers Markets in Maine, including one in Bath, Maine. Kim’s dedication to homesteading has lasted more than 20 years.
