(China Daily) BEIJING – Meng Xianping registered to get his mother into a local nursing home at the end of 2009, but he and the rest of the family – three generations living under one roof – are still waiting as the matriarch approaches 90.
The nursing home, named Evergreen, said that Meng’s mother is not the only one waiting for a place in the home, which has 500 beds: it’s had about 2,700 people on its waiting list – since 2008. Continue reading

随着越来越多的“80后”开始结婚生子，他们的父母也进入了老年。如何“二养四”（即两个独生子女赡养四个老人）的现实问题，已摆在了年轻人面前。
近日，中国青年报社调中心通过民意中国网和互动百科网，对1612人(其中独生子女占40.1%）进行的一项调查发现，58.3%的人选择让父母住在同一个小区或者附近，就近照顾；43.5%的人愿意跟父母住在一起，亲自照顾；24.8%的人表示父母在异地居住，定期去探望；7%的人选择由社区配备生活指导员，定期照顾老人；仅有6.9%的人愿意把父母送到养老院等机构。
受访者中，“80后”占57.3%，“70后”占28.1%；已婚者占53.4%，未婚的占46.2%。Continue
