For Maine’s Jews, like their gentile neighbors, finding a place on the ski mountains, summer homes, and sports fields was quite important. These Jews also sought not only to find their place in Maine’s distinctive culture but also to add to its richness through their own cultural contributions. As you examine these objects, taking in the stories and experiences of Jewish Mainers, we invite you to think about two questions: How do they reflect life in Maine? What’s Jewish about them?
