Welcome!

Dear colleagues,

I am writing to invite you to the International Symposium on Reactive Intermediates and Unusual Molecules (ISRIUM) which will be held in Sorrento, Italy from June 18 to 22, 2017. I hope you will be able to attend.

In 1978, Professors Charles W. Jefford (University of Geneva, Switzerland) and Curt Wentrup (then at the Universität Marburg, Germany) brought together physical organic chemists from around the world to Geneva for a Euchem Conference on Electron-Deficient Intermediates. That conference began a series of regular meetings which has since morphed into what we now call ISRIUM – a premier forum for disseminating cutting-edge research in the broadly defined areas of reactive intermediates and unusual molecules.

We have an outstanding slate of speakers who will give talks on their work at ISRIUM 2017 and there will be poster presentations as well. Faculty, students, postdocs, and other professionals from academia and industry, with an interest in this area of chemistry, will find ISRIUM 2017 a stimulating gathering to exchange ideas, learn from one another, renew old friendships, and forge new ones.

Sorrento, which may be easily accessed from Naples and Rome, is a spectacular seaside resort town in southern Italy that overlooks the Bay of Naples. It is also close to many world famous attractions such as the Amalfi coast, Capri, Ischia, Mount Vesuvius, Pompeii, and Ercolano. This popular vacation spot is very family-friendly with numerous activities available for all age groups and interests. The tourism office of Sorrento has useful information for visitors that may be found here.

Please look through these pages to learn more about this symposium and check back often for updates. As always, please let me know if you have any questions or comments about the event.

I look forward to welcoming you to ISRIUM 2017 in Sorrento, Italy!

Cordially,

Das Thamattoor
