Summer greetings from Allen Island! We hope you are warm and well and enjoyed the solstice a few weeks ago. ☼ ☼ ☼ ☼
Here’s what our Research Fellows have been up to!

Photos by Oliver Beardsley ’27.
Oliver’s research project consists of using an 8×10 view camera to photograph the island and its relationships. Lachlan Bailey ’27, seen above with our new touch tanks (…more on these coming soon!), is conducting a feasibility study for tide-based hydroelectric power.

Photos by Rachel Hernandez ’27.
Rachel is creating a photographic field guide of the flora on Allen with plant cyanotypes and lumen prints. Senior fellow Catrin Carey ’25 is designing a comprehensive tour of the Island campus, which will make more of the islands’ history accessible. Jack Brenner ’26 is investigating the biodiversity of bees and adding to Professor Dave Angelini’s long-term research on the island’s bee population.
