Wesley McNair was appointed to the position of Maine poet laureate Friday, March 11, at a ceremony at the Franco-American Heritage Center in Lewiston. McNair said he sees the appointment as a great honor but plans to keep doing what he’s always done:
“I’ve been bringing poetry to the people from the start. My goal is to continue making poets in Maine more visible to their communities and to their regions.”

The Mary Low-Louise Helen Coburn Letters is a correspondence between the first alumnae of Colby College, led by the first two women graduates, discussing the 1889 college administration proposal to create two divisions (men’s and women’s), a crucial moment in Colby history. The letters are part of the Colbiana (college archives) Collection. The Low-Coburn WordPress site contains letters, transcripts, photographs and a pamphlet by Low titled “Coeducation at Colby.”

The Wesley McNair Papers is a personal papers collection that contains correspondence, letters, audio/visual materials, notebooks, scrapbooks, poems, essays, manuscripts, photographs, first appearances, interviews, reviews, clippings and other materials related to life and professional career of Maine poet Wes McNair. The McNair WordPress site contains readings, notebook excerpts with transcriptions, published poems, commentary and teaching/learning tools related to the writing of poetry, also correspondence between McNair and his mentor/colleague Donald Hall.
