After graduation, Lee briefly engaged in Y.M.C.A work as an educational secretary, then soon began his career as a teacher (The Colby Echo 1923, 1).
He first became the Dean and Professor at Peking College of Commerce and Finance, 1926-1928.

Then, he became Dean and Professor at the National Custom College, 1928-1930.

After serving for a while as a teacher, Lee took a break and went into the banking business. He would serve 10 continuous years from 1930-1940 as the Assistant accountant and comptroller of the Salt Industrial Bank. His boss would be the finance cabinet of Chiang Kai-shek, the President of China. In one online user’s article, it was mentioned that Lee tried to sell a collection of rare Chinese pottery to US buyers, but no one could recognize the value of these items.

Lee then became Chief Manager and Vice President of the Bank of Great China, 1940-1942, followed by President of the Ta Tung Banking Corporation, 1942-1944, and eventually became the president of both the Six Provincial Development Corporation and the Union Trust of Four Banks concurrently, 1944-1947.
After 1946, during the wartime period in China, Lee took a break from banking and returned to education. Here is a list of his various achievements during this period of time:
- Lee received an L.L.D. Degree from Sinkiang University in 1946-1947.
- Lee became a Professor at Kuo Mm University in Canton, 1947-1949.
