On November 4 2008, Colby students, staff, and faculty participated in a sit-in in Pulver Pavilion. The participants of the sit-in had a series of demands for the Student Programming Board, the administration, and also other students. This sit-in was a response to racially and culturally insensitive incidents that occurred during the fall of 2008. Some of the demands of this sit-in included student leaders participating on Campus Conversations on Race, an annual address from the President on how race, gender, sexuality, and class affects the Colby community, and a revision and update of the College diversity requirement.
