How We Work Series

The How We Work series offers a unique, behind-the-scenes look at the essential operations that keep Colby running every day. From the intricate systems of the steam plant to the hidden treasures within Special Collections, these monthly presentations highlight the dedicated staff members who often work out of the spotlight. By rotating through different departments, we aim to build lasting relationships across campus and foster a deeper appreciation for the diverse roles—from arborists to admissions officers—that contribute to our collective success.

How We Help Series

The How We Help series is an initiative dedicated to strengthening our campus community by working together to support our local neighbors. By providing regularly scheduled opportunities for staff to volunteer alongside one another, this program fosters meaningful connections across departments through shared service and common goals. We recognize that community engagement is a vital part of our professional culture, and we treat this time as a valued component of our work hours. Currently, we have established a partnership with Spectrum Generations in Waterville to assist with essential services like Meals on Wheels, and we are committed to building a consistent, reliable volunteer cohort that makes a measurable impact. Whether through recurring service days or special one-off projects, the How We Help series invites all staff to step away from their desks, give back to our community, and build lasting relationships in the process.
