After a week-long break, we returned to the center feeling refreshed and ready to continue on with the last few weeks of our semester. On Friday we began our Direct Research preparations with a day of statistics classes. Saturday we had the opportunity to participate in community outreach. Over the course of the semester, our outreach activities have included a language exchange with local students, a day-long stay with a local family, sports with the neighbors, and volunteer hours at a recycling center in central Atenas and the university, as well as at a turtle rescue center. These hours have allowed us to further connect with the local community of Atenas, practice our language skills, observe local culture, and give our time back to the community that has so kindly been hosting us.
