10,000 Days of Sandwiches
10,000 Days of Sandwiches demonstrates one resident’s compassion and dedication to fighting food insecurity in the city she calls home. Maili Bailey, the director of the Evening Sandwich Program, narrates the trajectory of the program since its start in 1990 when organizers recognized an increase in food insecurity in Waterville, Maine. Largely thanks to Bailey’s commitment to helping out her community, the Evening Sandwich Program has served over 730,000 meals to those in need and welcomes thousands of volunteers from across Kennebec County. 10,000 Days of Sandwiches encourages audiences to recognize the nuances and details involved in running a local soup kitchen and how the passion of just a few individuals can have a major impact on our communities.
