Guess where Jews spent their summers

Picture 3 of 18

Old Orchard Beach, a very popular summer location for Maine Jews, was home to Dave Glovsky’s famous guessing stand. Working throughout as “Dave the Guesser” from 1945 into the 1980s, he entertained many of Old Orchard Beach’s visitors, deducing weight, occupation and marital status with surprising accuracy. Glovsky was also famous for his ventriloquist act, a favorite among the youth visiting Old Orchard Beach.
