Special Collections & Archives is located on the main floor of Miller Library.
Our main reading room and classroom, the Robinson Room, can accommodate up to approximately 35 students, with moveable tables and chairs that can be configured in a variety of setups, or cleared to accommodate performances. The Robinson Room also has 6 cabinets available that can be used for student-curated exhibits (as well as a large, free-standing exhibit case in the lobby area). Whiteboards and technology options can also be arranged.
The Wormser Room, adjacent to the lobby, is also used as a classroom and can accommodate approximately 25 students, with moveable tables and chairs that can be configured in a variety of setups.
The Healy Room can also be used as a classroom or seminar room, for small classes up to 10 students.
If it is difficult for your class to come to Special Collections & Archives, we can come to you! We can take materials to your classroom for a modified session, or come to your class and talk about our resources, the process of archival research, and working with primary sources. We can do classes or walking sessions outside that address space, place, and history/memory of campus spaces.
During the 2020-21 year, we held many class sessions over Zoom and worked with digitized materials from our collections. We now have some experience doing classes remotely, so this is another option to consider under the right circumstances. We have an IPEVO document camera that we can use online as well.
Although Special Collections is open Monday-Friday from 9-5, we can accommodate classes that meet earlier than 9 am as well as evening classes after 5 pm.
