My chimney is finished
and now the masons are to work
on the fire place. Some time in years to
come perhaps I shall pass Riker’s
Island on one of the Sound boats
and see the magnificent proportions
of this chimney [carrot: now] used perhaps as
an important + useful appendage
to some shanty or hut. It will be my mark left
behind. * * *
