15th Spent the day in resting
burying the dead and estab-
lishing head quarters – Received news of the loss
of Harper’s Ferry –
16th Visited Birkheadsville. Expect
to move tomorrow morning somewhere.
17th
Moved out this morning on
the road to Rohrersville – passed through
that place and took the road to
Sharpsburg. Came up with our army
in position just beyond Keddysville.
Moved up Newton’s brigade under a
sharp Artillery fire. Finally, our
Division took permission of the woods
in advance.
