Sanderson’s classmates summed her up in a single word. The 1914 Oracle page showed her roommate joke about the various positions Abbie had on campus, asking: Did any one say “Busy”? By senior year she had served a term as Class Treasurer, played Class Basketball in both her junior and senior years, and accumulated memberships in the All-Out-of-Doors Club, the German-language Deutscher Verein, the College Choir, the Ladies’ Glee Club, the Colbiana board, and the Y.W.C.A. presidency, on top of four delegate trips to outside conferences. In November 1913 she was initiated into Kappa Alpha, Colby’s senior women’s honorary society, alongside classmate Helen O. Thomas, and her portrait ended up in four separate group photographs across the same yearbook: Chi Omega, Glee Club, Kappa Alpha, and the Colbiana board. Graduation week piled even more on. She earned the Senior Essay First Prize, was chosen Class Prophet, spoke at Class Day, and on Ivy Day in June 1914 served as Mistress of Ceremonies. Her roommate “Ike” reportedly kept close watch on her schedule. All of it added up to the same word in the Oracle: busy.
