Her parents immigrated from Seoul, South Korea to Christchurch, New Zealand in 1998. Sarah was born and raised in New Zealand and immigrated to the United States when she was 15. During this interview, Sarah talked about the intersection of her Korean ethnicity and her national identities. She also discussed how growing up in diverse communities has impacted her and how her transition to the Colby community was a sharp contrast. She then talked about her relationship with Korean culture and food, and how this relationship was shaped by her parents. This interview covers topics such as Korean culture and food, immigration, family dynamics, generational differences, and language. I reached out to Sarah because we are in the same Korean History class and she volunteered to be interviewed. The interview was conducted via Zoom. The interview was conducted by Anna Staton, a second-year double major in History and Studio Art at Colby College.

Biography: Sarah Kim

Sarah Kim is a 22-year-old senior at Colby College who plans to attend the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry after she graduates.
