This interview is with John Jeung, a 21 year old Colby junior. John moved to the U.S.  in the sixth grade. In this interview, John covers his immigrant experience, his experience with Korean Americans and his identity as a Korean in America. One of the themes especially explored in this interview is home, identity and belonging. 

I met John at Colby Intervarsity Christian Fellowship, and we are currently roommates. We conducted this interview in our dorm. 

This interview is conducted by Pierce Ticen, a Colby senior. 

John Jeong was born in Busan, South Korea in 2004 to a family of four. He moved to the suburbs of Kansas City in the summer of 2016 with his family due to his father’s job for the South Korean government. He moved to Queens the following year and has lived there since. John continues to visit his home in Busan every summer and maintains close connections to his friends and family there. Currently he is attending Colby as a junior on the pre-med track and plans to go to medical school upon graduation.
