In a unique project this past academic year, students in Colby College course Spanish 126 used an AI art generator to recreate works of art on view at the museum.<\/p>\n

Guided by Javier Zapata Claveria, Visiting Assistant Professor of Spanish at Colby, the students visited the Colby Museum to describe selected artworks using their acquired Spanish vocabulary. This project is a demonstration of art transcending language, both in Spanish and code!<\/p>\n

“Con el objetivo de integrar herramientas de inteligencia artificial en el aprendizaje del espa\u00f1ol como segunda lengua, los estudiantes de Spanish 126 visitaron el museo de Colby. Una vez all\u00ed, utilizaron el vocabulario adquirido en clase para describir obras de arte previamente seleccionadas. Despu\u00e9s, utilizando Midjourney, un programa de inteligencia artificial para la generaci\u00f3n de im\u00e1genes, crearon sus propias composiciones basadas en las descripciones escritas.<\/p>\n

With the aim of integrating AI tools into the learning of Spanish as a second language, students from Spanish 126 visited the Colby Museum of Art. While there, they used vocabulary acquired in class to describe selected artworks. After that, utilizing Midjourney, an artificial intelligence program for image generation, they crafted their own compositions based on the written descriptions.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
