{"id":4079,"date":"2021-10-29T16:09:54","date_gmt":"2021-10-29T20:09:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/web.colby.edu\/thelantern\/?p=4079"},"modified":"2021-12-09T11:36:08","modified_gmt":"2021-12-09T16:36:08","slug":"4079","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/web.colby.edu\/thelantern\/2021\/10\/29\/4079\/","title":{"rendered":"In the Galleries: Student Research on Bob Thompson"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><em>During the spring 2021 semester, students in Abbe Schriber&#8217;s course, African American Art<\/em><em>, created podcasts, zines, and a website to showcase their research into Bob Thompson&#8217;s art practice.<\/em><\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #444444;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">Prior to the opening of the exhibition, students in the spring 2021 Colby College course AR256: African American Art dove deep into Bob Thompson<\/span>&#8216;s hunger for new ways of seeing<span style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif;\"><i>,<\/i>&nbsp;exploring his relationships to the European canon, free jazz, post-war Pop art, the backdrop of civil rights and desegregation, spirituality, his relation to Black aesthetics, and other Black artists in the 1960s.
