Las actividades que desarrolla el college, privado pero abierto generosamente a la comunidad, son sobre m\u00fasica, lectura, interpretaci\u00f3n de la naturaleza.<\/p>\n<p>Entre algunas muestras que se exhiben en este momento, con entrada gratuita (<em>No soy un extra\u00f1o: fotograf\u00edas de S\u00e9an Alonzo Harris<\/em>,&nbsp;<em>W\u00edw\u0259nikan<\/em><em>\u2026la belleza que llevamos<\/em>, arte de cesteros, canoeros, talladores de los pueblos de las Primeras Naciones de Maine y Canad\u00e1, y pintores contempor\u00e1neos, <em>Alex Katz\/ Moby Dick<\/em>, ilustraciones en tinta acerca de la novela <em>Moby Dick<\/em>), nos llam\u00f3 la atenci\u00f3n <em>Occupy Colby: los artistas necesitan crear en la misma escala que la sociedad tiene la capacidad de destruir, a\u00f1o 2<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>La primera muestra fue <em>Brooklyn Rail<\/em> y reun\u00eda artistas con preocupaciones pol\u00edticas y sociales como derechos humanos, inmigraci\u00f3n, relaciones internacionales; en esta edici\u00f3n participan artistas que expresan su postura ante temas ambientales y cambio clim\u00e1tico, con la urgencia de respuesta ante la retirada de la Administraci\u00f3n Trump del Acuerdo de Par\u00eds que se cre\u00f3 en el marco de la Convenci\u00f3n Marco de las Naciones Unidas sobre el Cambio Clim\u00e1tico para mediar las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero con un da\u00f1o directo sobre el calentamiento global.<\/p>\n<p>Lauren Bon (con un cartel en ne\u00f3n que da t\u00edtulo a la muestra, <em>Honey Chandelier<\/em>, frascos con miel recolectada de lugares en guerra, <em>Honey Helmet<\/em>, casco de soldado con una colmena de abejas adentro), Justin Brice Guariglia (con enorme trabajo en poliestireno de gran grosor donde tall\u00f3 un impactante <em>Baked Alaska<\/em>&nbsp;y abajo muestra los pedacitos de papel), Maya Lin (<em>Interrupted River: Penobscot<\/em>, collar de cuentas de vidrio verde que dibuja la silueta del r\u00edo desde la pared hasta el techo en momentos de pleno proyecto de restauraci\u00f3n del r\u00edo Penobscot, complicado por la pesca del salm\u00f3n), y otros artistas y obras m\u00e1s como Mel Chin (<em>Bird is the Word, North Carolina Variation<\/em>, loro en cera de abejas), dan cuenta de su denuncia sobre la problem\u00e1tica medioambiental, a veces con poes\u00eda, como utilizar la miel de las abejas como propuesta de volvernos hacia el cuidado de su producci\u00f3n, a veces con \u00e1cida iron\u00eda en el caso de registrar que Alaska est\u00e1 literalmente siendo asada.<\/p>\n<p>La voz de los artistas est\u00e1 bien alta, depender\u00e1 de los gobiernos y la sociedad toda poder ser escuchados.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Clara Ortiz is an Argentinian artist who works with natural fibers.
