TL101: Teaching and Learning Essentials for Peer Learning Assistants

Course Description

 

This course is the first course offered by the Center for Academic Success and Transformative Learning. TL courses (Transformative Learning) will provide essential content knowledge about teaching and learning along with application skills (facilitating student support sessions) for Peer Learning Support roles, such as the Learning Assistants who support active and inclusive learning in courses working with the Center for Teaching and Learning. One credit hour, Credit/No credit. 

Logistics

During the Spring 2025 semester, TL101 will meet Fridays, 2:00-3:00pm. All Spring 2025 Learning Assistants who have not previously earned credit for TL101 will enroll as a condition of employment. This is a one credit course. Students must satisfy course requirements to receive credit for TL101, but a letter grade will not be assigned. Please note that Learning Assistants will not be paid for time spent engaging in TL101 (e.g., class sessions, assignments) as this is a credit bearing course. 

TL101 is also open to students who are interested in applying to be an LA in future semesters or who are interested in learning skills to support their own academic experience.
