Employing a variety of Asian and American cultural influences, these artists often address issues faced by people who have left their original homes to make new ones in this country. For these artists, \u201chome\u201d is not necessarily a physical location; \u201chome\u201d can also exist in the conscience, as a state of mind.<\/p>\n<p>The title, <em>Somew<\/em>HERE, alludes to the ambiguity of the space between cultures, while also highlighting these artists\u2019 presence <em>here<\/em> in Maine. The diverse styles, subjects, and media used by these artists demonstrate the many paths they have traversed, and, more importantly defy stereotypes. By recognizing the individuality of the artists, we discover each one reflecting upon his or her experiences in unique ways.
