This website, built in the Spring of 2013 at Colby College, brings together five group research projects investigating contemporary social movements. The assignment was to research a contemporary social movement and provide an online resource that other students might use to better understand it. Each group decided on a movement that interested them and organized themselves to address five areas of each movement:
1) The context out of which the movement arose (Why did it come about?)
2) A timeline of the movements (What happened when?)
3) Media of the movement (What images, sounds, and writings did the movement produce?)
4) First-hand experiences of people in the movement (What was it like to be in the movement?)
5) Consequences of the movement (What were the impacts of the movement?)
