{"id":37,"date":"2018-02-06T13:55:29","date_gmt":"2018-02-06T13:55:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/web.colby.edu\/peck-laboratory\/?page_id=37"},"modified":"2019-06-11T00:35:45","modified_gmt":"2019-06-11T00:35:45","slug":"research","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/web.colby.edu\/peck-laboratory\/research\/","title":{"rendered":"Research"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>STRESS (and how microbes respond)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are currently <a href=\"http:\/\/web.colby.edu\/peck-laboratory\/files\/2019\/04\/ASBMB-2019-figures.pdf\">investigating stress-related genes in the halophilic Archaeon <em>Haloferax volcanii<\/em>.\u00a0<\/a> The genes were identified by exposing cells to a stressful environment (low salt solution for the halophiles) and gene expression levels compared to unstressed cells.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Carotenoid synthesis and regulation in halophilic Archaea<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The retinal and bacterioruberin biosynthetic pathways in <em class=\"genus-species\">H. salinarum<\/em>.
