{"id":1831,"date":"2019-04-08T15:10:56","date_gmt":"2019-04-08T19:10:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.colby.edu\/outingclub\/?p=1831"},"modified":"2019-04-08T15:10:56","modified_gmt":"2019-04-08T19:10:56","slug":"4-7-calm-before-the-storm-edition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/web.colby.edu\/outingclub\/2019\/04\/08\/4-7-calm-before-the-storm-edition\/","title":{"rendered":"4\/7~ calm before the storm edition"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>once upon a time there was a young snowflake named roger. born in the magical kingdom nimbus, roger loved to mess around with his fellow snowflake friends dancing and doing general things that beings made entirely of frozen water would do. idk man. anyway, roger had a dream of one day falling from the sky, glittering in his epic descent. maybe he could become a snowcreature or join an a capella group? every day he would awaken and check with his overlords to see when he would finally be part of a blizzard or even a tiny snow drizzle. and every day they would say, &#8220;maybe tomorrow roger&#8221;. until one day there was a glitch in the system! it was april 8. in mayhem, all of the snowflakes had no idea what would occur or who would precipitate! they all panicked, expanding the walls of the kingdom nimbus until every snowflake fell out, ruining a perfectly nice spring weather pattern. thanks a lot roger. snow doesn&#8217;t belong in april.<\/h2>\n<h3>here is what happened before it snowed!<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">what we done did<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">jackie zoe and molly attempted saddleback with a squadron<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">didn\u2019t go that well, scary ice sheet <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201csome of us weren\u2019t prepared\u201d <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">joseph went to west virginia and did some casual hiking<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">way too warm<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">taryn went to utah with megan and max (father maximillian)<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">the canyons were so nice<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">bentley played some sunny mostly warm but sometimes not frisbee<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">they sometimes won<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">lacey toured her own town! she gained some perspective<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">will went to the adirondacks: ski and climb and cool<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">colleen went backpacking in canyonlands with other people<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">strength in numbers<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">lily went to a wildlife reserve<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">there were no salamanders \ud83d\ude41 <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">molly went skiing on frozen lakes, there is a lot of ice still<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">zoe went to the desert! it was really wonderful and WARM <\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">in joshua tree! she fell in love<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">taryn went hiking rumford whitecap with her sister!<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">she left her backpack in dana, dehydration was toughhhhhhh<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">michael went to true mountain maple <\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">they saw tree tapping with amazing people and amazing food<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">maple syrup flowed through everyone\u2019s veins (esp. martin) <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">kaitlin went scuba diving in florida with her dad!<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">she accidentally forgot she kinda gets super seasick\u2026<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">julia went on lovely hikes with her dog!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">what we gon do<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">max and taryn are going to saddleback WITH CRAMPONS saturday<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">people should show up<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">molly and jackie want to sunrise hike french thursday<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">there probably won\u2019t be snow<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">caroline and grace want to hike mt battie this weekend<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">zach wants to shadow a trip<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">keller and megan might go to the arb before his wfa expires<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">alice and michael kramer are going to burnt mountain saturday<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">alice and julia are doing an earth week hike too!
