{"id":1589,"date":"2017-09-25T21:39:48","date_gmt":"2017-09-26T01:39:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.colby.edu\/outingclub\/?p=1589"},"modified":"2017-09-25T21:39:48","modified_gmt":"2017-09-26T01:39:48","slug":"924-the-office-is-an-oven-edition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/web.colby.edu\/outingclub\/2017\/09\/25\/924-the-office-is-an-oven-edition\/","title":{"rendered":"9\/24 &#8211; the office is an oven edition"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>If you&#8217;re in the mood for hours, I can&#8217;t help you.\u00a0 If you want seconds, go elsewhere.\u00a0 But&#8230; WE GOT MINUTES so feast your eyes on this glorious semi coherent heap of words (courtesy of ya boi soren this week):<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">here&#8217;s all the fun jazz we done diddly did:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Keenan went to Albany (hometown of the famous Keenan) for geology and looked at fossils and swam underwater to a CAVE<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Davis and co. hiked Katahdin, and everything went according to plan with 0 hiccups and 0 flat tires, also there was blood sweat and tears yay! jk flat tires were had and Brittany and Chloe saved the day and rescued our valiant hikers<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Lilly biked to the Common Ground Fair and met a thru biker named \u201cthumbs\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hannah hiked Round Top w Max and Ana and also Max knows every word to hips don&#8217;t lie<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Michaela found a beaver dam in the arb (site of dragonfly exoskeletons)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dominic went fly fishing in Moosehead lake (no fishes were caught)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Caroline and Julia went to Mt. Philip and ran into underwear models (!!!!) sweat, lots of nudity ensued<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There was a W1 field trip to Stratton Brook Hut yay<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Chloe went to Acadia with the Bossi clan and hiked the Precipice and walked around Jordan Pond and then rescued the Katahdin Krew<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Max and Soren and Austin went up sugarloaf and spaulding it was fun, there was blood sweat and LOTS of nudity<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Eric hiked French Mountain and it was normal mostly<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Taryn hiked the Bigelows with Soren and co and there was blood and sweat and NUDITY again (where there is soren there is nudity)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Here&#8217;s what we gon&#8217; do<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sam wants to lead a night hike after whittling with Nat<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Eric would lead a trip to Early Bird with a bit o hiking too<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Lilli wants to lead a Friday trip to Reid State Park<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Michaela wants to explore the Arb during some afternoons (not as an official trip)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">LTT (Leader Training Trip) yay<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Leaders will be trained on October 6 7 and 8<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Notifications will be sent soon we promise, and sign ups are closed<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">No outdoor experience necessary to become a leader!<\/span><\/li>\n<li>None!<\/li>\n<li>Zero!<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There&#8217;s gonna be a second LTT in November for all y&#8217;all that missed this one<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fall Break<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fall Break is Oct. 14-17th!\u00a0 We lead generally longer trips during this time and they&#8217;re all super fun<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Trip leaders wanting to lead a fall break trip should have descriptions in by Friday<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Trip descriptions go out this coming Sunday, sign ups are lottery style<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sign ups close next Thursday<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Everest!<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: inherit;font-size: inherit;font-style: inherit\">Ed Webster is coming to Colby!<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Thursday at 7 pm in Olin 1!<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">He ascended without sherpas and oxygen and radios!<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Office hours are moved up an hour from 6-7 M<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School)\u00a0 Film<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">October 4th!<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There will be a bunch o short outdoor films<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A NOLS rep (Derek) will be there givin out stickers and swag<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Come watch movies with us in Ostrove in Diamond!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Committees<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Gear<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Bring yo gear back pls<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Cabin<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We&#8217;re workin with PPD in October to redo the floors<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Events<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Game night on Tuesday, 7:30<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Coincidentally my office hours yay<\/li>\n<li>Whittling Wednesdays from 7-8!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sugaring<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To join sugaring talk to \/ email Martin Deutsch!<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There will be a meeting next week!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Conservation comrades <\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Help clean up Maine&#8217;s trails!<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Take trash from trails and put it in a communal garbage can here in the COC!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Also lastly there was an awesome microaggressions training following last night&#8217;s meeting that was mandatory for all leaders \/ leaders in training so if you couldn&#8217;t attend then please email me or K-Council or the Diversity &amp;
