Here are some awesome resources to do just that!<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/unity3d.com\/learn\/tutorials\">Unity Official Website<\/a>\u00a0is a great place to learn some of the Unity basics. It has hundreds of video-based tutorials covering topics ranging from simple scripting, to optimizing a game for VR.<\/p>\n<p>However, <a href=\"https:\/\/unity3d.com\/learn\/tutorials\/s\/interactive-tutorials\">this<\/a> is the best place to start if you&#8217;ve never opened up the program. You get a broad tutorial about how use Unity by exploring the engine itself. Once you get past this lesson, here are some great tutorials to take from there:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/unity3d.com\/learn\/tutorials\/topics\/interface-essentials\">Learning Unity&#8217;s interface<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/unity3d.com\/learn\/tutorials\/s\/scripting\">Get started with scripting in C#<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/unity3d.com\/learn\/tutorials\/s\/roll-ball-tutorial\">Make your first simple C# game<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you breeze through all of the above, or aren&#8217;t a fan of the teaching style, here are some other great alternatives to learning coding in both Unity languages and wide variety of other options, too.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.learn-cpp.org\">Learn-CSS<\/a> is a\u00a0great beginner site, as you get a very simple text-based introduction to C++, while getting to apply your learning with on-site coding exercises. On its sister-sites (the links to which are found on Learn-CSS), you can get similar intros to C#, Java, and Python amongst other languages.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.learncpp.com\">Learn CPP<\/a>, not to be confused with the above, is a decade-old site dedicated to helping you learn C++ from the ground-up. It&#8217;s completely text-based, with no video tutorials or downloadable follow-along project files, and is updated every time the language changes (which isn&#8217;t often).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lynda.com\">Lynda<\/a> is another expansive education site that all Colby students with a\u00a0<em>colby.edu<\/em> email have a subscription for. Learn a multitude of softwares and coding languages through video tutorials and downloadable practice files for you to follow along with.<\/p>\n<p>Above all, feel free to explore your own resources, available all over the internet, both free and paid, to start you on your programing journey.
