Tristram Walker, an erstwhile porter and \u201chack driver\u201d at the Depot Hotel<\/a>, started brewing commercially at his house on 46 Portland Street in 1852. He was about thirty years old. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

By 1856, he had turned the business over to Benjamin F. Walker<\/a> at the same address. Tristram moved to Chesterville, in central Maine, where he was named U.S. postmaster and operated a country store.<\/span><\/p>\n
