<\/a>In 2010, I co-founded SPARK Movement <\/a>with CUNY and Hunter Professor Deborah Tolman and a coalition of girl activists, feminist org partners, and thought leaders united in their determination to challenge the sexualization of girls and demand girls\u2019 rights to healthy sexuality. Seven years later, working with Dana Edell<\/a>, we expanded beyond the scope of our original work, consulting with organizations who want to train girls to be feminist, anti-racist activists, organizers, and leaders in the fight for gender justice.<\/p>\n

<\/a>Founded in 2010, Powered by Girl (PBG)<\/a> is an online feminist magazine entirely run by girls for girls. I work with 20-year-old London-based editor, Yas Necati and a collection of brilliant girl blogger-activists, who offer feminist media analysis and critique, demanding more realistic and positive versions of girlhood.<\/p>\n

I co-founded the nonprofit Hardy Girls Healthy Women<\/a> <\/a>in 1990 with two community activists, Karen Heck and Lynn Cole. Working alongside girls, we developed a feminist model for scaffolding girl-driven activism that provides opportunities for girls to connect with one another and build coalitions with college age and adult muses that inspire their best work. Hardy Girls is committed to changing the culture in which girls grow and partners with girls to connect them with the people and resources that help them transform their surroundings into more emancipatory spaces by developing knowledge, critical thinking skills, and a platform for activism.<\/p>\n
