Encouraging educators to upend traditional power dynamics by listening to and validating student experiences and expertise, we saw lower absentee rates, higher test scores, and improved school climate<\/span>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hepg.org\/hep-home\/books\/trauma-responsive-schooling\">Our book<\/a> documenting the project and a range of innovative practices is now available from Harvard Education Press.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I am the author of 6 previous books and 7 curriculums. &nbsp;I&#8217;ve written about the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Raising-Their-Voices-Politics-Girls\/dp\/0674747216\">political power of girls&#8217; anger<\/a>, the cultural underpinnings of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Girlfighting-Betrayal-Rejection-among-Girls\/dp\/0814799515\/ref=pd_bxgy_b_img_y\">horizontal violence in the form of girlfighting<\/a>, the impact of media and marketing on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Packaging-Girlhood-Rescuing-Daughters-Marketers\/dp\/B001GVJC10\">girls<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Packaging-Boyhood-Superheroes-Slackers-Stereotypes\/dp\/0312379390\">boys<\/a>. and the power of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.penguinrandomhouse.com\/books\/538464\/powered-by-girl-by-lyn-mikel-brown\/\">intergenerational activism and youth-fueled social change efforts<\/a>. &nbsp;One of the best compliments I&#8217;ve received about my work is that it successfully bridges&nbsp;the gaps between research, practice, and public service.<\/p>\n<p>You can download my CV here: <a href=\"https:\/\/web.colby.edu\/lynmikelbrown\/files\/2022\/10\/Lyn-Mikel-Brown-CV-2022.docx\">Lyn Mikel Brown CV 2022<\/a> Lyn Mikel Brown CV 2022<\/p>\n<p>On a more personal note, I was born and raised downeast, in Vanceboro and Calais, both Maine-New Brunswick border towns. I did my undergraduate work at the University of Maine, University of Kent in Canterbury, England, and Ottawa University in Ottawa, KS. I received a masters in psychology from Southern Connecticut State University and my doctorate in Human Development and Psychology from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. I was was a founding member of the Harvard Project on Women&#8217;s Psychology and Girls&#8217; Development, working with Dr. Carol Gilligan.
