I am currently completing a book that analyzes the politics of urban security interventions and the rights of marginalized groups in Bogot\u00e1. I am member of the editorial committee of the journal <em><a href=\"https:\/\/jcp.gc.cuny.edu\">Comparative Politics<\/a><\/em>, responsible for manuscripts on Latin America.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Prior to coming to Colby, I was a Democracy Fellow at th<\/span><span style=\"font-size: inherit\">e <\/span><a style=\"font-size: inherit\" href=\"http:\/\/ash.harvard.edu\">Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation<\/a><span style=\"font-size: inherit\">&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">at the Harvard Kennedy School.&nbsp; I completed my Ph.D. at<\/span> <a style=\"font-size: inherit\" href=\"http:\/\/polisci.berkeley.edu\">UC&nbsp;Berkeley&#8217;s Travers Department of Political Science<\/a><span style=\"color: #000000\">, an M.P.P. from<\/span> <a style=\"font-size: inherit\" href=\"http:\/\/gspp.berkeley.edu\">UC Berkeley&#8217;s Goldman School of Public Policy<\/a><span style=\"color: #000000\">,&nbsp;and a bachelor&#8217;s degree from<\/span> <a style=\"font-size: inherit\" href=\"http:\/\/www.carleton.edu\">Carleton College<\/a><span style=\"color: #000000\">, where I was a first-generation-to-college student.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome! &nbsp;I am an Associate Professor of Government at Colby College.&nbsp; My book, Building Participatory Institutions in Latin America&nbsp;(Cambridge University Press, 2019), examines the trajectories of national frameworks for participatory policymaking in Brazil and Colombia.
