Growing up as a bicultural Franco-American in Northern Maine, along with my current life in Mid-Coast Maine, has deeply shaped my work as a multi-disciplinary artist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the Light<\/em> show, I have chosen monotypes. This work draws inspiration from time at beloved Monhegan Island, Pemaquid Point, and the Rachel Carson Preserve, Maine, places that have long attracted artists seeking the \u201csublime.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tidal Pool, Rachel Carson Preserve, New Harbor, Maine <\/em>depicts my first time at the Tidal Pool, on a return trip from Monhegan. When the tide is out, one can wade in and briefly experience marine life. In this work, I layered images of fire traces onto sea life forms on the monotype plate, evoking memories of the glow of natural light from village fires in my youth and replacing what would have been the summer sky reflected on the water.<\/p>\n\n\n

Surf, Pemaquid Point, New Harbor, Maine<\/em> evokes an ethereal scene at Pemaquid Lighthouse Park. This well-known landmark attracts tourists and artists who want to capture it in the best light. In the ghost print, I\u2019ve depicted people watching the waves, as well as a creature partially hidden by the natural light caused by the white surf that seems to be rising from the sea.<\/p>\n\n\n

In Portal into the Past<\/em>, I imagined peering into a portal, in the rock formations on Monhegan Island, and finding mysterious depth, and light, revealing fragments of the past. When on the island, I am curious, and often look down into rock crevices, hoping to see something, but mostly find darkness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
