As you take in the painting, notice that you can travel through the pictorial space via color, movement, shadow, and light. You may get a sense of sunlight animating the spaces. As in many of my abstractions, this painting references the woods. I use complementary reds and warm greens to create a sense of light dancing between the bold, mostly vertical brushstrokes. With a light touch, I employ color, line, and shape to suggest a joyful springtime energy that can be found in nature.
