Erratum: An error in printing or writing. Momento: A variant spelling of Memento—a souvenir. While the spelling “Momento” is a common variant, in the context of the Latin phrase memento mori—remember you must die—it is an error. I found it both humorous and embarrassing that I slipped up and made this mistake.
Still the meaning is quite clear and as an image I hope it draws attention to the complexities of life. As a transition, there is not one more permanent and besides birth, none more abrupt. I believe that if we were truly aware of the short time we have on this Earth we would exercise much greater care in our relations with each other and the natural world. As a souvenir from the other side, the image has power.
