Nocturn has three different kinds of light: the warm interior light seen in the window through glass, the dark night with small reflections from inside caught on the roof supports outside the window, and the moon in the sky above it all, cold and aloof from the domestic scene below.
As the sun moves across the sky, different areas are highlighted. Here the ferns have caught the light while woods remain in shadow.
Reflections is about the play between a landscape outside a glass window, which has a reflection of another window on its surface, partly obscuring the landscape. There are objects inside the room full of windows, in a different light from that outside. Reflections is a composition based on the inside/outside—the visual tricks of a room full of windows. The white shapes are reflections of other windows. They are on the surface of the glass, through which part of the landscape outside is obscured by the reflections. So, you see the outside, the surface of the glass, and the inside of the room.
