An early spring snowfall provided the inspiration for this painting. The combination of road salt and warming temperatures created a textured band of gray slush at the edge of the road. The grimy slush contrasts with both the blanket of untouched, white snow on one side and the clear, dry pavement on the other; reminiscent of the transitional mud season as winter gives way to spring.
