Submission Guidelines

Essays
Essays must include an abstract and should not exceed 4,000 words or 10 pages. Essays should use 1.5 spacing, Times New Roman font, and 1-inch margins. Authors must indicate their name, school name, program name, and program type (undergraduate, Masters, PhD, or other) at the top of their essay. Citations and works cited should follow the guidelines of APA, 6th edition. Note that citations should be parenthetical and include the author and date.

Essays should be submitted as PDF documents, and file names must use the following format: lastname_firstinitial_school. Please send essays to [email protected]. The cover email should include author name, school name, program name, program type, class year (freshman, sophomore, junior, senior) if applicable, and home country, as well as a copy of the abstract pasted into the body of the email.

Creative Contributions
Creative contributions should each include an abstract. Videos should not exceed 15 minutes. Any photos, music, or other materials must be used with permission.

Video contributions should be uploaded to YouTube and submitted by emailing the YouTube link to the conference organizers. The contest organizers will create a YouTube channel with all contributed videos. Please tag your links with the following identifier: Colby Landscape Conservation Conference. Include your last name, the name of your school, and “Colby Conference” in the title of your video so that we can identify it. Please send your links or other creative contributions to [email protected]. The cover email should include author name, school name, program name, program type, class year if applicable, and home country, as well as a copy of the abstract pasted into the body of the email.

We welcome other creative contributions. Please contact the conference organizers at [email protected] before submitting anything that is not an essay or a video.
