This Saturday Colby Trustee Sandy Buck, Sissy Buck<\/a>, and a group of Colby facuty\u00a0met Philip Conkling<\/a>, Peter Ralston<\/a>, Buzz \u00a0Bullock<\/a>, and Herring Gut Board Chair Peter Harris<\/a> for a trip\u00a0to Allen Island and the Herring Gut School. \u00a0Phillip and Peter were the principal island architects that helped Betsy Wyeth transform an uninhabited and over grown island into a unique resource for fishing, education, and research. \u00a0The trip was\u00a0the first visit to the island for several participants and also provided an opportunity the group to interact with Prof. Ben Lisle’s Cultural Geography Class, AM226.<\/p>\n
