In this course the students engage with various forms of documentary storytelling from an editor\u2019s perspective. In addition to watching documentary films, students produced and edited three documentary video projects. While attention was paid to developing ideas and production, the class focused most heavily on the editing phase of production. Time was given to refine, recut and reedit. Students learned the art of process, of revision and reimagining, as well as learning valuable technical skills such as using a camera, shooting a scene, and interviewing techniques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tracing the Midcoast<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide is-stacked-on-mobile\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"554\" src=\"https:\/\/web.colby.edu\/islandcampus\/files\/2022\/08\/Allen-Island-768x554-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1785 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/web.colby.edu\/islandcampus\/files\/2022\/08\/Allen-Island-768x554-1.png 768w, https:\/\/web.colby.edu\/islandcampus\/files\/2022\/08\/Allen-Island-768x554-1-300x216.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/web.colby.edu\/allen-island\/\">Tracing<\/a><em><a href=\"https:\/\/web.colby.edu\/allen-island\/\">\u00a0the Midcoast<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>was built by members of \u201cThe Cultural Geography of Allen Island,\u201d an American Studies course at Colby College in Fall 2016.
