Document found in Special Collections 2/2021. A loose page from the Class of 1931 Commencement book. “Undergraduate Registration, 1930-1931”

On loose paper page 22 of what would be the commencement book of the class of 1931 at Colby College, the major distributions of the classes of 1931 through 1933, for both men and women are listed below. This document shows how small the biology department was at this time, with only 8 majors graduating in a span of 3 years. Of those 8, only 1 was a woman. This is some of the earliest data we have on female involvement in the Biology department at Colby, and has been useful in pinpointing the progress of female students, faculty, and professorship.
