On loose paper page 22 of what would be the commencement book of the class of 1931 at Colby College, the major distributions of the classes of 1931 through 1933 for both men and women are listed above. This document shows how small the biology department was at the time, with only 8 majors graduating in a span of 3 years. Of those 8, only one was a woman. This is some of the earliest data we have on female involvement in the Biology Department at Colby, and has been useful in pinpointing the progress of female students, faculty, and professorship.
