day two!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Woke up to sunshine!!<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;.then a brief shower.<\/p>\n<p>After breakfast our scooters arrived and we learned how to ride those around.\u00a0 I found that they were surprisingly easier to use than I thought they&#8217;d be.\u00a0 However, they still took some time to get used to.<\/p>\n<p>We rode down to Ferry Reach in St. George&#8217;s and walked around the park searching for geocaches and intertidal organisms.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_185\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a over the past day and a half that Bermuda is pretty much the worst place to walk around barefoot.\u00a0 Not only is the phytokarst that makes up much of the coastline extremely rough and sharp, Bermuda seems to have the highest concentration of broken glass.\u00a0 Much of the glass isn&#8217;t even your typical smooth beach glass, but is freshly broken sharp goodness.\u00a0 A common misconception is that the trash that accumulates in Bermuda is from Bermuda itself.\u00a0 However, the vast majority of the trash that ends up on the shores of Bermuda originates from around the world and accumulates in the middle of the Atlantic due to the North Atlantic Gyre.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_189\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a class=\"wp-caption-text\">blurry glass<\/p><\/div>\n<p>After lunch, we rode around St. David&#8217;s and visited the St. David&#8217;s Lighthouse which luckily was open to the public.\u00a0 From atop the 55 foot or so lighthouse we were able to see over the Bermudan islands as well as the surrounding Atlantic.\u00a0 Awesome vista!!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/web.colby.edu\/geologyofbermuda\/2013\/01\/22\/bermuda-day-two\/dsc_0027\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-195\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium
